Fallout 4
RPG

Fallout 4 can be easier to enjoy when its cleanup rules are clear before the opening hours. This rpg guide keeps the important planning details in one place. Fallout 4 is listed for PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series, with an estimated 50–80h achievement route completion range. It contains missable content, and there is a point of no return to plan around. Manual saves give you extra control; there is no standard New Game Plus safety net.
QUICK ANSWER
When is Fallout 4's faction point of no return?
The major factions become mutually hostile late in the story. Make a clearly named manual save before Mass Fusion and the related faction branches, then preserve it instead of overwriting it. That backup lets one character return to the split and pursue the factions' mutually exclusive achievements.

PLAYTHROUGH PLAN
Before You Start checklist
Set up your save plan
Fallout 4 supports manual saves, so keep a rotating backup before major missions or irreversible choices.
Protect the completion route
Missable content exists in Fallout 4. Recheck quests, collectibles or companion tasks before advancing major story milestones.
Know the last safe checkpoint
Fallout 4 has a point of no return. Keep a separate save and clear priority side content when the game signals a final commitment.
Choose difficulty deliberately
Fallout 4 does not require a specific difficulty for the standard trophy or achievement route, so choose the setting you will enjoy.
Budget 50–80h achievement route
Use Fallout 4's 50–80h achievement route estimate as a planning range, not a promise. Exploration, difficulty and optional goals can move the total substantially.
Spoiler-free warning
The major factions become mutually hostile late in the story. Make a clearly named manual save before Mass Fusion and the related faction branches so one playthrough can cover their exclusive achievements.
BEGINNER GUIDE
10 things I wish I knew before starting
The useful systems, early mistakes and easily missed details worth understanding before you commit dozens of hours.
The perk chart is the progression system
Each SPECIAL attribute unlocks deeper perk ranks as it rises. You do not need to max an attribute first, but checking future requirements prevents spending levels without a clear build direction.
Tag scarce crafting components
Workshop and crafting menus can mark missing materials such as adhesive, screws and aluminium. Tagged junk then displays a magnifying-glass icon, making scavenging far more purposeful.
Fusion cores are fuel, not permanent keys
Power Armor consumes a Fusion Core while moving and using VATS. Exit the suit when it is unnecessary, and remove its core when parking it in a settlement so NPCs cannot casually take it.
VATS slows time but does not fully stop it
You can inspect targets and queue shots in VATS, yet enemies continue moving slowly. Enter it from cover, watch action points and do not treat the targeting screen as a completely safe pause.
Settlements are useful without becoming a second job
Beds, water, storage and crafting stations provide practical bases, but most elaborate construction is optional. Build what supports your playstyle before spending hours perfecting every location.
Companion affinity unlocks permanent perks
Companions approve of different actions and eventually grant a unique perk at high affinity. Travel with characters whose preferences suit your normal decisions instead of forcing repetitive approval tricks.
Charisma can be prepared for conversations
Clothing, chems and other temporary bonuses can improve difficult speech checks. Save before an important conversation, equip the available bonuses and remember that coloured dialogue is still a probability.
Survival mode changes the save rules
Ordinary difficulties allow manual saving, but Survival restricts saving largely to sleeping and adds travel and health pressures. Choose it for the full rule set, not only for tougher enemy damage.
Do faction work before choosing a side
Several factions can coexist for much of the campaign, letting you earn rewards and learn their goals. Stop and save when Mass Fusion and related missions warn that another faction will become hostile.
There is no New Game+
You can continue exploring after a compatible ending, but a new character does not inherit perks or equipment. Preserve a pre-branch save if you want to experience exclusive faction endings efficiently.
